Swod is the recording project of Oliver Doerell and Stephan Wöhrmann, two musicians who met in Berlin sometime in 1991. Oliver plays guitar, bass and all manner of electronics - he is also a long-time family member of city centre offices having recorded 2 albums and an ep under the"Dictaphone" moniker in between composing and performing musical pieces for theatre, installations and film over the last few years. Stephan plays piano and drums, arranging an almost neo-classical structure within a recording that already sounds ghostly and cinematic.

SWOD represents a labour of love from two musicians experienced in the art of seductive and evocative music making. having firstworked together producing live soundtracks to silent movies, Oliver Doerell and Stephan Wöhrmann tread a delicate board of crystalline piano cascades and the sort of subtle electronic tinkering you can barely recognise or absorb in one sitting. It's fitting that the pair are so used to tailor-making their
harmonious shards of sound to moving imagery, "gehen" evokes a plethora of half forgotten films and life experiences offered up in glimpses in the back of your mind.
if you can imagine a sitting specially programmed by film directors Théo Angelopoulos or Krzysztof Kieslowski, you'll have some idea of what to expect.

"Swod" ist ein Studioprojekt von Oliver Doerell und Stephan Wöhrmann, zweier Musiker, die sich 1991 in Berlin trafen. Oliver spielt Gitarre, Bass und diverse Arten von elektronischen Instrumenten. Er ist seit langem Teil der City Centre Offices "Familie", wo er ein Album ( "m.= addiction", CCO 2002) und eine EP( "Nacht", CCO 2004) unter dem Namen "Dictaphone" veröffentlichte; außerdem komponierte er in den letzten Jahren Musiken für diverse Tanz- und Filmprojekte, sowie für Klanginstallationen.
Stephan Wöhrmann, der ebenfalls für Tanztheater und Stummfilme Musiken schrieb, spielt Klavier und Schlagzeug, wobei er eine fast neo-klassische Struktur erstellt, innerhalb einer Komposition, die an sich atmosphärisch und filmisch angelegt ist.

D a s . A l b u m :

"Gehen" stellt einen Homage zweier Musiker dar, die Erfahrung gesammelt haben im komponieren von assoziativer und verwobener Musik. Oliver Doerellund Stephan Wöhrmann, die erstmals für die Produktion von Soundtracks für Stummfilme zusammengearbeitet haben bewegen sich mit ihrem Album auf einem zerbrechlichen Terrain von transparenten Klavierlinien und jener Art von subtiler elektronischer Musik, die man kaum beim ersten Hören erfassen kann. Es ist passend, daß das Duo daran gewöhnt ist, ihre harmonischen Tonschnipsel bewegten Bildern anzupassen - "Gehen" ruft eine Fülle von Erinnerungen an halb vergessene Filme und Erfahrungen hervor, die in Form von flüchtigen Bildern in uns auftauchen.
Denkt man an Filmemacher wie Theo Angelopoulos oder Krzysztof Kieslowski im visuellen Bereich , bekommt man eine annähernde Ahnung davon, was einen erwartet.
